Information for Potential Authors

Information for Potential Authors of On-line CME Modules
The ASDS and Dermatologic Surgery are actively recruiting authors to write CME modules.  Modules consist of a referenced manuscript and a test.  Resources are available to place the test on the web site once the module is accepted.  Manuscripts will be considered that review various aspects of dermatologic surgery.  Authors that intend to write a module can reserve that topic for up to 9 months so that duplicate manuscripts are not written.  A list of acceptable or desirable topics is available by request.  While it is not possible to guarantee publication, topics and outlines can be submitted for suggestions prior to writing the manuscript and test.  A stipend of $750.00 will be paid for each manuscript that is accepted.

Manuscript Preparation
Dermatologic Surgery (DSO) publishes peer-reviewed articles on all aspects of dermatologic surgery and oncology, including clinical studies.  DSO is the official publication for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, North American Society of Phlebology, International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and The International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons.

To ensure the timely publication of articles submitted to DSO, the following guidelines are in place: 1) all articles submitted for publication will receive a decision from the editorial office in 4 weeks after submission; 2) authors can expect manuscripts to be published within 5 to 7 months of submission, provided that revision is not required.

Expedited Publication.  Expedited Manuscripts will appear in print within 4 months of submission provided that revision is not necessary.  To be considered an Expedited Manuscript, a paper must be no longer than 10 pages in length and must be judged by the Editorial Board to be of great potential interest and importance.  Authors can suggest that their papers be placed in this category.  The final decision is the Editor's.
